Divya

Well, the fresh new look of the Indibloggies comes to you courtesy ace-designer Chugs who not only redesigned the blog but also made us the Award stickers. Thanks Chugs :) Thanks a ton also to Divya for her set of stickers (soon to come). Offcourse we also thank Nilesh for the excellent design he created for this blog, if only we could have gone for both.

Thanks to all the enthusiasts, we appreciate your effort :)

Calling the sponsors

Are you passionate about blogging? Do you love Indian blogs? Have you always thought about giving something back to the Indiblogger community? If yes, why not take a plunge in sponsoring awards for the 2004 Indibloggies? You may sponsor awards for one or more category and it can be anything (except cash awards)ranging from Pen to Painting to T-Shirts, Books, Gift Vouchers, Audio/Video CDs; it all depends on your budget and imagination.

And what you get by sponsoring a prize? Hmm.. obviously not a tax-exemption or better Q3 results, but may be, one or more of the following:

  • Self satisfaction and may be an ego boo
  • ‘Feel good’ about being associated with the Indibloggers community
  • Getting recognized and (perhaps) attracting a better traffic to your blog/website

So if you wish to sponsor a prize for this year, do drop us an email at indibloggies at gmail dot com and we can discuss further on that.

Disclaimer: The onus of delivery of the prizes falls upon the prize sponsor him/herself. Indibloggies does not, in any way, take responsibility for delivering the prizes to winners, loss of prize during transit or latter non-delivery by the sponsor. Winners must communicate their complete postal address to the sponsor directly for claiming their prize(s). Sponsors are encouraged to send us thumbnail image(s) of the prize(s) that we may display on this website.

Nomination Form

Do you think your blog deserves to be nominated to Indibloggies 2004? Click here to send your nomination to any of the Juror. They will have a look at your blog (may be they already know of it) and may nominate it, if they like it.

Ladies & Gentlemen, the Jury

Here is the list of the bloggers (in no particular order) who have consented to be members of the Jury who would nominate blogs for Indibloggies 2004. Many Jury members have also indicated the categories they are interested in, but we thought it best not to limit them by publishing their choices here, lest they change their mind later on.

  1. Nitin Pai (painn at hotmail dot com)
  2. Shanti Mangala (shantim at gmail dot com)
  3. Pankaj Narula (pankajnarula at gmail dot com)
  4. Nilesh Chaudhari (mail at nilesh dot org)
  5. Divya Manian (divya at nimbupani dot com)
  6. Mahesh Shantaram (msram at techrose dot org)
  7. Anand M (anandm at mvps dot org)
  8. Ravishankar Shrivastava (raviratlami at gmail dot com)
  9. Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan (chandrachoodan at gmail dot com)
  10. VeerChand Bothra (veer at blogstreet dot com)
  11. Prashant Mullick (mullickprashant at gmail dot com)

A Note for Bloggers: If you think you blog deserves a nomination to Indibloggies 2004, you may write to any of the Jury member directly (please do not flood multiple Jury members with your requests) requesting a dekko along with with your Name, Blog Name and URL and the category you want the blog to be nominated for. You would agree, however, that the final decision on whether your blog would be nominated or not rests with the Jury member, given the limitation on the number of blogs s/he can nominate for any category.

Note for the Jury members: You are expected to:

  1. Send us your consent to be a Jury (and for publishing your name and email ID on this blog) on or before 30 November, 2004. We would be publishing name of the Jury members in this post with their email IDs.
  2. Select atleast 5 categories to nominate blogs for (those who are well versed with any Indian language apart from English would do good to select a language category). Remember that you may nominate blogs for all the categories but no less than 5 categories.
  3. Nominate a maximum of 3 blogs per category (order not important) on or before 2031 December, 2004. Nominations must include a short justification on why you nominated the blog. The last date is absolutely important and we regret that we would not accept any nominations received after 2031 December, 2004.

Jury members would find the sites related to the Indiblogs very helpful if they just want to skim through many of them. Make sure to take a look at the “Links” menu at this blog for links to such websites/blogs.

A mishap notice: All our old haloscan comments are gone (archived, says Haloscan, not deleted) and this thread tells us that we should be a premium member to access them , so for the sake of sanity we are now gonna use Blogger’s own commenting.

Jury Invitations: Few of the invitations are getting dispatched today, do check your mails. If you think you deserve to be a Jury member, drop a comment in the comments area without waiting for the mails, remember the final decision rests with us. Jury members must send their consent (to be a Jury) by the month end and must send their nominations by Dec 20, 2004. Details are in the invitations.

Back with..announcements

After a really long long wait..we are back with some news, goes without saying that many were watching the space and thanks for that. Believe us when we say that the 2004 ordeal has now really begun. Infact we may have some very good prizes this year for the winners. Yes, we do believe in predictions.

So here is how things are gonna happen

  • In few days we would start looking at the Indiblogs and their feeds for author’s email id (make sure you have it mentioned prominently on yours). This is for sending them invitation to send their consent for being this year’s member of Jury.
  • Final list of Jury for each category of awards will appear here perhaps in 2 weeks time. Juries will be given time to nominate blogs for the categories they have been appointed to. Voting would commence on the final list of Blogs nominated by the jury hopefully in November last week, voting being open to all.
  • Final results in December
What are we looking for in a Jury member
  • Blogging since considerable time and blogging regularly
  • Interested in blogosphere writing often about what others are blogging about

Member count for jury hopefully would be under ten. It may seem autocratic to let us decide the jury members but that’s how it is. However we are ready to listen to any sane suggestion on who should be included in the list (only through emails).

Expectation from the Jury
  • Select 1 or more category to nominate blogs for (those who are well versed with any Indian language apart from English would be encouraged to select a language category)
  • Nominate a maximum of 3 blogs per category (order no important) within the specified deadline. Nominations must include a short justification on why they nominated the blog.
  • Jury member can self-nominate their blog though we really think they should restrain from that
  • They would find the directories sites related to Indiblogs very helpful if they just want to skim through many of them
  • Bloggers can write to jury members directly requesting a dekko

So do watchout for our invitation in your mailbox. For suggestions and comments, mail us at indibloggies at gmail dot com. Till our next post..

FAQs answered

Here is our try on answering a few of the questions people keep on asking us:

Why are you doing this?

Coz somebody had to. We had begun last year by saying that it’s the Indianised version of bloggies..

So what’s on your agenda?

  • As flashed in our banner above, “showcase the excellence”. Inform others about blogs that are being liked universally, about what people like to read. Convince you that these blogs deserve to be on you blogroll and let you peek into blogs you would not otherwise ever visited .
  • Bind the bloggers together as a community
  • Promote other bloggers to write regularly and write good.

You mean to say this selfless act is for the betterment of the society and would eradicate poverty. I do not believe you.

(A long sigh..)

Tell me..isn’t it a vicious little plan of yours to promote your own blog?

Our blog is nowhere listed here, it wasn’t even nominated last year nor do we hope it would be this year. All tools/services used by Indibloggies come free. We are not making any moolah out of it.

Why beg to the sponsors? I am sure you are keeping some prizes with you.

If you call solicitation begging so be it..It’s a voluntary effort. Those who sponsor prizes get due credits here and may be a hike in their page hits. We can only offer that much. And since we do not play any role in distributing prizes there is no questions of us gobbling it up midway.

Will you be there next year too?

Hopefully yes, more than us it depends on whether these free services continue to be free.

Why appoint Jurors yourself. You cannot monopolize this affair.

Beg your pardon! This was started by yes and being managed by us so we have to ensure there is no anarchy out here; someone has to take hold of the strings. Did you expect us to hold a poll for selecting jury members? Do remember that the award is not for the jury but for the blogs and blog related services.

People say you go very well with the whine and pretty much accept any suggestion.

In the age of broken promises where even your chosen representatives don’t care when you whine, isn’t this a refreshing change?

My blog is much better than the listed ones, why wasn’t it nominated? / I sent my nomination to jurors, still it did not make it to the final list, why? / My blog won accolades at the Blah Blah awards and it does not feature here, what a joke!

Did you send a nomination request to the jurors? (Their mail ID was published on this blog and even a gimmick was available to post your nomination online to any of the juror). Even if you sent a nomination request it was the prerogative of the juror to include you if he liked your blog. Each juror was allowed to nominate a maximum of 3 blogs in a category which means there couldn’t have been more than 36 blogs in any category anyway. Emphasis in on quality and not quantity and judging quality is a subjective affair.

I am offended by my blog being listed here. I am not for limelight.

Tell us well in advance and if voting hasn’t started yet we would certainly remove your blog from the list of nominees. No questions asked!

I want to sponsor an award/donate for hosting of this blog on its own domain. How do I go about it?

We are flattered! Just drop us a mail at indibloggies at gmail dot com and we will get back to you. If you are thinking of sponsoring domain/hosting do write to us for details.

Indibloggies 2004

Greetings! Nice to be back. We are gearing up for the 2004 ritual and would like to know what do you think should be the methodology this time. For e.g.: we are thinking of something on the following lines:

  • Make all blogs Listed at http://indianbloggers.blogspot.com eligible for the award (which means no “initial” nominations)
  • Appoint a 10-15 member Jury that nominates their list of blogs for each category (Any blogger should be able to apply for becoming a Jury member)
  • Compile the results of Jury voting, this list being the ones for the final nominees in various categories
  • Voting starts on the above list

Obviously, these are only suggestions, we also suggest removal of “Best Regional blog” category and introduce “Best language category” for each of the Indian languages. Do tell us which other categories should or shouldn’t be there this time.

As usual, you can post your comments here or mail them to our new gmail account addressed to “indibloggies”.

Indibloggies 2003 : A hesitant start

November 2003 was the moment where it all began. The site was launched at http://indibloggies.blogspot.com by Debashish Chakrabarty as a fun veture, he felt that he wasn’t able to read so many good blogs just because he never heard of them. The blog was started at free hosting service from Blogger.com in 2003 with many few bloggers such as Melodrama and Anita Bora contributing with their awards. The Indibloggies wsbsite now operates from http://www.indibloggies.org and has an allied blog.
